Tooth brushing mistakes you are doing

A man brushes his teeth

In this racing world, most people brush their teeth without skipping in their daily routine, but they don’t do it properly. Here are the eight common mistakes that most people do.

1) Long term usage of toothbrush

Keeping your toothbrush for a long time is the most common mistake that everyone does. If your toothbrush is frayed or the bristles are broken, it is time to change your brush immediately and it is a sign too. The American Dental Association recommends everyone change their brush every three months or four months. Brushes with long-term usage won’t clean your teeth properly. It is always recommended to choose the toothbrush with a seal of the IDA.

2) Brushing in a harder way

You may think brushing harder will remove bacteria easily, but the truth is that it damages your gums and may cause bleeding. Always be gentle while brushing and brush softly in a circular motion. If your bristles bend on your teeth while brushing, then you are brushing harder.

3) Using bristles that are harder

Using a toothbrush with hard bristles also damages your gums. Always use a toothbrush that contains soft bristles. Soft bristles are always the best and safest ones. Try different sizes until you find the best. Choose the right size of the brush according to the advice of your dentist.

4) Brushing Quickly

Brush your teeth for at least a full two minutes and also twice a day. Most people do not brush before going to bed. Spend your time for this by playing your favorite music while brushing. The time you spend brushing your teeth is golden and that gives you pearly white teeth and shining diamond-like smile. Most of the peoples brush quickly, and the average time they take to brush is forty-five seconds as they are in a rush.

5) Storing brush in a closed container

Do not store your toothbrush in a closed container because germs grow easily in that case. Always keep your brush in an open place where it dries quickly in the air. It is important to clean your brush well after brushing by rinsing. If you fail to do this bacteria that cause cavities and bad breath easily grow on your brush.

6) Brushing as soon as eating

Brushing your teeth immediately after eating is not recommended. You have to wait for at least sixty minutes if you have consumed acidic foods. Chewing sugarless gum and drinking water helps you to clean your teeth before brushing. Gargling your mouth after eating also helps in removing the food particles stuck in your teeth.

7) Improper techniques of brushing

Brush your teeth in a proper technique. Always keep your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle and gently move it in back and forth motion. Brushing in an improper technique can’t help you clean your teeth. Brush every surface of your teeth. Tilt your brush vertically to brush the inner portion of your teeth and brush it in up and down strokes.

8) Multitasking while brushing

It is important to concentrate on every area of your mouth. If you keep on brushing in the same area you will get bored soon and you will try to finish the other areas quickly. It is highly recommended to give equal importance to every area of your mouth. Even your tongue should be cleaned well. Concentrate only on your teeth health while brushing rather than multitasking.

Conclusion

Brushing your teeth in the right way is one of the most important things that everyone should follow. Do it properly and get a healthy smile.
